Speakers

Dr. Chris Nash (pointblank)

Dr Chris Nash is a developer, educator, and researcher, specialising in the design of new tools and techniques for audio and music programming, with extensive artistic and technical in both industry (Steinberg, Yamaha, BBC) and academia (Cambridge, TCD, UWE Bristol, pointblank). In 2022, he founded nash.audio, a non-profit organisation supporting projects like the Manhattan procedural music engine/editor, Klang audio processing language (C++ extension), and rapIDE (aka Klang Studio), a VST/AU plugin-based C++ audio IDE.

Silas Gyger (Audiotool)

Silas Gyger graduated in Computer Science from ETH Zurich and has been with Audiotool since its new start in 2022, where he is a lead on Nexus Platform and is a developer of the cloud DAW.

Geraint Luff (SignalSmith Audio)

We banished him but he keeps coming back. If anyone knows how he keeps getting in the building, please let Josh know.

Oliver Larkin (Ableton)

Oli Larkin is a generalist audio programmer and builder with nearly two decades of experience in plug-in development and a wider career working with sound artists and musicians on large scale spatial audio projects. He has worked at Ableton AG in Berlin since 2021, on a team bringing ML features to one of the world's most popular digital audio workstations - Ableton Live. In the past he has developed his own successful products such as VirtualCZ and Endless Series and worked on projects with brands such as Arturia, Focusrite and Roli. He leads development of the liberally licensed open-source framework iPlug2, which powers many great audio plug-ins. Oli's experience working on iPlug2 has directly influenced his latest creation — iPlug3 - an opinionated framework which aims to embrace the new reality of agentic AI workflows for better not worse.

Talk: klang - live and expressive C++ for audio

A practical introduction to two technologies developed to support C++ audio learning, prototyping and development: klang (K++), a C++ extension that adds audio DSP semantics to modern C++, and rapIDE (rapid audio prototyping IDE), a complete C++ development environment inside an audio plugin, supporting live coding, debugging, and audio analysis within the DAW. Used in both pointblank's MuSE degree and TAP's Basic Audio Programming course, the tools facilitate the expressive design and rapid prototyping of new synthesisers, effects, and sounds, while lowering the threshold to C++ for newcomers and learners, without compromising its expressive ceiling or performance - notably by introducing language support for signal flow. Live demos will include synths, effects, and procedural audio in Unreal (inside a 1:1 recreation of Britain).

Talk: How Audiotool Nexus Enables Real-Time Collaboration Through an Open-Source SDK

Audiotool Nexus is an open-source SDK that lets you build web or native apps that connect to a live Audiotool session - reading and writing DAW state in real time, alongside musicians as they create. This talk explores the SDK's capabilities, its architecture, and how to get started building your first Audiotool integration.

Nexus SDK is open source https://github.com/audiotool/nexus

Talk: WCLAP - run audio plugins anywhere

We'll look at some new possibilities opened up by compiling CLAP audio plugins to WebAssembly/WASI, as an additional platform alongside Windows/Mac/Linux. We'll demonstrate some tools and libraries, and WCLAP plugins running in native hosts as well as the browser.

Talk: iPlug3 - Building an Audio Plug-in Framework for the Agentic Era

iPlug3 is a new cross-platform audio plug-in and application framework, written from the ground up in 2026 with agentic AI development workflows in mind. It pairs a minimal, format-agnostic plug-in abstraction with a state-of-the-art GPU-accelerated graphics engine. The architecture choices prioritise fast builds, best in class graphics rendering and clean code that agents and humans can both reason about. Designed for tight feedback loops, iPlug3 includes MCP integration for programmatic plug-in control and validation, along with support for emerging plug-in formats and non-conventional targets. Oli will introduce the framework and its design philosophy, and demonstrate agentic development workflows in practice.
