All presentations are 3-to-5-minute lightning talks. You must be attending in person at our London event.

Dr. Chris Nash (pointblank)
Dr Chris Nash is a developer, educator, and researcher, specialising in the design of new tools and techniques for audio and music programming, with extensive artistic and technical in both industry (Steinberg, Yamaha, BBC) and academia (Cambridge, TCD, UWE Bristol, pointblank). In 2022, he founded nash.audio, a non-profit organisation supporting projects like the Manhattan procedural music engine/editor, Klang audio processing language (C++ extension), and rapIDE (aka Klang Studio), a VST/AU plugin-based C++ audio IDE.

David Ronan (RoEx)
Dr. David Ronan is Founder and CEO of RoEx, a London-based company building AI-assisted mixing and mastering tools used by independent musicians and B2B partners including UnitedMasters and Music AI. Previously Head of Research at AI Music (acquired by Apple in 2022), he holds a PhD from Queen Mary University of London where he developed a fully autonomous multitrack mixing system.
Jules Storer (Cmajor)
Jules Storer is the creator of JUCE, the widely used C++ framework behind countless audio plugins and applications. He also created the Tracktion DAW and Cmajor audio language, and has spent decades developing tools and technologies that have helped shape modern audio software development.

Talk: Developing Developers: Aptitudes, Attitudes, and AI
Dr. Chris Nash explores changing learning styles and attitudes to technology, and the unique approach behind pointblank Music School’s pioneering Music Production & Software Engineering (MuSE) programme. From new teaching techniques and learning technologies to the role of AI in education, he’ll look at how the programme is developing industry-ready graduates – and invite collaborators and contributors to help shape the next generation of audio programmers.

Talk: Assisted, Not Replaced: Rethinking the Mixing Workflow
This session walks through how we built Automix, an AI mixing engine that ships inside Ableton Live, Bitwig, and Fender Studio, and the product decisions involved in making it work across platforms without flattening the creative process it's meant to serve. I'll demo live and make the case that the best AI tools aren't the ones that replace user intent, they're the ones that compress the boring distance between an idea and something you can react to.

Lightning Showcase: 7 Projects, 5 Minutes Each
Seven presenters will have around five minutes each to share something they've been working on – whether that's a finished product, a work in progress, or an idea they'd like to get in front of the community.
We'll have plugins, synths, generative audio tools, live sound, spectral analysis and more, with a mix of short talks and live demos. It's a chance to see what people in the community are building, hear the thinking behind it, and hopefully spark a few conversations and collaborations afterwards.
